Vertical continuous compound casting of copper aluminum bilayer rods

A vertical continuous compound casting technology for the production of rotationally symmetric bilayer rods consisting brass CuZn37 and aluminum AA7075 was developed. The interface metallurgically bonded semi-finished products composed four intermetallic layers an anomalous eutectic area Al2Cu (?-AlCu), Al solid solution (?-Al), other precipitates. were CuZn (?-CuZn), a suggested two-phase region Al3Cu5Zn2 (?-AlCuZn) Cu5Zn8 (?-CuZn), Al4Cu3Zn (??-AlCuZn), AlCu (?2-AlCu). correlation between process parameters speed, cladding temperature, tool tempering formation studied. experimental investigations accompanied by numerical FEM analysis. speed temperature found to be key factors, that influence cohesion joining partners.
